Scratch a record and you’re talking hip-hop. Or you’re talking Christian Marclay. Marclay, a visual artist and composer, has been repurposing vinyl and turntables since disco days.
He was in the news recently because his 1995 film Telephones, uh, let’s say inspired Apple’s ad for the new iPhone — in both cases, it’s a montage of actors answering the phone. Telephones is not in the public domain, but you can see a bit of it in this mini-docu on Marclay.
