Saturday, March 31 at 2:00 PM
Introduced by PERFORMA Director RoseLee Goldberg
Reception with the artists to follow

Artist Daria Martin, musician Zeena Parkins, and actor Nina Fog will present a work-in-progress of their performance Object Relations. While in residency at the Watermill Center, they will be pushing their collaboration in a new direction, adapting it for a film dealing with childhood anxieties, Harpstrings and Lava. This Open Rehearsal will catch the trio in transition, en route from live performance to celluloid. Harpstrings and Lava will be developed during a PERFORMA Residency at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center in the Spring of 2007 and then make its US premiere during the PERFORMA07 Biennial of new visual art performance coming to New York November 1-20, 2007.

About the Artists
Daria Martin’s films act as expanded tableaux vivant, staging relationships between performers in particular situations borrowed from dance, sports and entertainment and in the process creating a refreshingly unfamiliar blend of the worlds of film, dance, sculpture, and performance. Her films use low-tech materials to create a world of exquisite artifice, and within this fantastical environment her performers negotiate a more human terrain that resonates both kinesthetically and emotionally. Martin’s work has been exhibited in solo shows at the Tate Modern, London, Kunstalle, Zurich, Kunstverein, Hamburg, and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Martin and Nina Fog have been collaborating on fine art films and performances for the past two years; Fog has played leading roles in Martin’s films Wintergarden and Soft Materials (both 2005). Martin has also previously collaborated with Zeena Parkins, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser well-known as a pioneer of the electric harp, who composed the soundtrack for Martin’s film Loneliness and the Modern Pentathlon (2004-2005) and collaborated with her on Regeneration (2006), a live performance at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
